The Sinodun Players’ bed push to raise funds for the Corn Exchange
There was room in this bed for one – the others would be pushing it.
The journey took young members of the Sinodun Players from their home base of Wallingford all the way to Stratford-upon-Avon.
They were given a civic send-off by the mayor of Wallingford, Maureen Page, and then took to the road.
Stopping only to entertain and collect money in villages on the way, they were aiming to raise £250 for the Sinodun Players’ plan to turn Wallingford Corn Exchange into a theatre.
Taking part in the venture in 1976 were Simon Lock, Bob Burrell, Tim Lane, Anita and Teresa Jordan and Julie Kolacz.
For safety at night – and for an easy ride home – they were followed by a van with a flashing amber light.
